Code of Conduct

NJx Hackathon is a welcoming, inclusive, and harassment-free event for everyone. This code applies to participants, mentors, judges, sponsors, volunteers, and guests at every NJx Hackathon event and online channel.

Expected behavior

  • Treat everyone with respect, collaborate professionally, and give others room to learn.
  • Follow the instructions of event staff and venue rules, including safety and facility guidelines.
  • Build original work during the event window and credit any open-source code, APIs, or assets you use.
  • Look out for each other. If someone seems unsafe or in distress, tell an organizer.

Unacceptable behavior

  • Harassment, intimidation, or discrimination of any kind, including based on age, race, ethnicity, religion, gender, gender identity, sexual orientation, disability, or appearance.
  • Offensive or sexualized language or imagery in projects, presentations, or conversation.
  • Photographing or recording anyone who has asked not to be recorded.
  • Submitting work built before the event or plagiarizing another team.

Participants under 18

Many NJx Hackathon participants are high school students. Adults at the event are expected to maintain appropriate, professional conduct at all times and to interact with minors only in shared, open spaces.

Reporting

If you experience or witness a violation, contact any organizer on site or email info@njxventuresummit.com. Reports are handled promptly and confidentially. Organizers may take any action they consider appropriate, including warning or removing anyone from the event and disqualifying a team.
